Announcing the Inaugural Wilson's Wave 5K
Wilson’s Wave is proud to announce our very first Wilson’s Wave 5K, taking place on May 2, 2026. This event was created to build awareness about the dangers of counterfeit pills and to encourage healthy ways to cope with life’s stress and challenges.
A Cause Born from the Heart
The idea of the 5K came to life thanks to two young men, Cade Bushee and Josh Rutland, who reached out with a desire to make a difference. Their initiative reflects exactly what Wilson’s Wave stands for:
Using your voice for good
Taking accountability
Turning awareness into action
Their leadership is proof that even small efforts can ripple outward and create real change.
This event honors the life and legacy of Wilson Moore. Wilson was bright, adventurous, kind, and deeply loved. His life was tragically cut short after taking a pill he did not know contained fentanyl. His loss created a wave of heartbreak throughout his family and community, but it also sparked a mission.
About Wilson’s Wave’s Mission
Wilson’s Wave was born from that heartbreak. Betsy Moore turned unimaginable grief into purpose, choosing to fight for awareness and prevention so that other families would not endure the same loss.
Wilson’s Wave is dedicated to alerting and educating communities about the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills. At the heart of our mission is the belief that prevention starts with awareness.
Through education, outreach, access to Naloxone, and open conversations about mental health and substance use, we strive to equip communities with the tools they need to stay safe.
Participate in the 5K
Participation in the 5K is about more than running (or walking) to a finish line. It’s about choosing healthy outlets for stress. It’s about standing together in the fight against the opioid crisis. It’s about creating ripples of awareness that can save lives.
